In 1977, VIEW-MASTER released
a 3-reel packet of stereo (i.e. 3-D) photos taken at Circus
World. (This was back when
V-M was also offering 3-reel packets for most of the country’s big
theme parks.) Unfortunately, the year
the Circus World packet came out V-M switched from
using Kodachrome film to a grainy, inter-negative film that
eventually turns red and loses its color. Here, in somewhat faded glory, are all
21 images from the Circus World reels. None of the performers are identified, but
most of you know who they are.

When you cut corners and try to save a buck this is what you get.
Hollywood learned also a lesson as when they stopped using the old time Technicolor and switched to Eastman color the dyes were not stable and faded and time took it tole on the movies.
Kodachrome was around since 1935 and never lost it's beautiful color and it and Technicolor were very similar and the color was the best ever.
