1973-74 Venice #1 (From Buckles)

The winter of 1973-74 in Venice was quite an experience, not long after I took over the Circus World elephants from Hugo Schmitt the Blue Show arrived and went into rehearsal meaning we had to camp our herd under the trees behind the elephant barn.
Shortly after that the Red Show rolled in and Gunther set up his elephant tent making a total of 53 elephants for about a month.
Not long after we moved up to Circus World Gary Hill brought in two more elephants for me, "Hugo" and "Bonnie" bringing us up to 19.
