"Fannie" and "Babe" were the first elephants ever owned by the Ringlings, purchased in 1888 from the defunct Dan Castello Show when both were quite small.
"Fannie", seen here, remained with the show for twenty years but I have no record of her final disposition.

While I don't have a final disposition, I can add that she was sold to the Memphis Overton Zoo on Nov. 9th, 1907 for $1700.00.
This is recorded in the Zoo Guide called "Catalogue, The Memphis Zoo at Overton Park, Season 1908"
