From Buckles:
"Aside from being a nice souvenir, these plates were handy when returning to the building between shows after they had closed the gates and were charging parking fees.
I have told the story often about the time I drove up to the winter quarters gate completely unannounced from Mexico to start work in Fall of 1973.
There was a commotion going on just inside so I stepped out and entered on foot just as Hugo Schmitt was in the process of chewing out Dick Brown's ass over some sort of entry infraction.
After he had finished he turn to me and yelled,.....AND VAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT?
I said, "Hi Hugo, I came to take over the elephants."
He was so damn mad he didn't even remember me but being the good soldier that he was, he immediately said, "Ya Biggle, come in, this is a fine place, you will like it here!"...I wasn't so sure."

I recall these were screened on
heavy plastic blanks & the ink
would flake or scratch off of
them pretty easily
My favorite was Tommy Cooper's
"Ringing Bros" that he had to
rescreen with the correction
