The only one I think I recognize is Peggy Shephard, Frank Shepards daughter, if I am remembering correctly. Frank, I think about in the early 40's who did a very dangerous single trapeze act with Ringling, evidently did a somersault from the traps to a web for a finish trick. Some how one day the hook was hanging on the tape that makes sure the hook does not jump out, was hanging on the tape and when the his weight hit it, he went right down and was cripples for the rest of his life. He came to meet me when I was practicing my traps in 1945 and advised me to cut out certain dangerous tricks as he said "it isn't worth the risk". Peggy had several married names and was last married,I think as Peggy Porter. I called Mary Jane to inquire about this and she also thought that was the name also. Jackie LeClaire I do remember Peggy Day also. Guess Eldon Days wife also. Hard to remember all this. It would be interesting, as least to me, to know just what all the names were.
I can vouch for the last two. Her last marriage was to a circus fan named Porter who had just moved to Sarasota when his wife was killed in an auto accident. This was the winter of the gas crisis, 1973-74. She was Peggy Day and I remember seeing Eldon Day when he was timekeeper, I believe, on one of the Ringling units just a couple years before. Didn't know she was Frank Shepard's daughter so many thanks for the information, Jackie.
