Elephants 1 thru 12 are the Billy Smart elephants, 15 thru 21 the untrained young elephants that had accompanied them from Europe.
"Siam" had just been retired from the Red show and likewise "Tagu" from the Blue Show.
This herd cluttered up the winter quarters for two years while Circus World was being built forcing both traveling units to go through rehearsals working around them.
