This is the Sells-Floto-Buffalo Bill band of 1914.
Karl King is in the front row, third from right in a slightly different uniform since he was the director. He would remain so until 1916 after which he went over to the Barnum show.

If you ever saw Beatty perform, you heard "The "Big Cage" Galop written by Karl King especially for and dedicated to Beatty in 1934.

In his late years King was a music publisher in Ft Dodge, Iowa. He died March 31, 1971 at age 80.

Karl King conducted the band at the Ft. Dodge County Fair when we played there with the elephant act in the 1950's.
My father pointed him out to me, I wish now I had paid closer attention.
