Blacaman’s sequence has him helping “The Great Edgar”
(ventriloquist Edgar Bergen) search for his missing dummy Charlie McCarthy, whom
Bergen believes Fields has done away with.
(The W.C. Fields-Charlie McCarthy feud was a carry-over from their
popular radio program.) The search for Charlie begins in Blacaman’s steel arena
among his lions.
