1974-75 Circus World #10

One of the attractions was free elephant rides......out in the Florida heat.
I used a few of the older Billy Smart elephants for this ordeal and insisted on very small howdahs and needless to say, worked at a leisurely pace.
Here's a gentle old cow named "Manja" with Shannon under complete control.

I don't ever remember Shannon working the ride when I was there in 77-78. He must have been in school then...

Shannon didn't work the ride, he happened to stop by with his mother and and I set up the shot.

I worked Manja all summer long! (June through September, 1974) It was the 10:00 A.M. ride. But, I started each morning by cleaning out Turks (Ben's horse) stall and got him fed, then cleaned up after Nirvana (Barbara's leopard)and fed her a whole chicken. Then I'd juggle the wheelbarrow up the "ramp!" My next duty was to feed "Mudu" sweet potatoes, bread and what ever else was for breakfast, to try & add a little weight on her! GOOD TIMES!!!!!
