Then came the famous Besalou Elephants (Bessie Polack/Louis Stern) a year in training and the talk of the circus world.
The number opened with this liberty drill "Mary", "Jean", "Millie", "Betty", "Kathy" and "Opal".
Some of you old timers might recall some of their their namesakes Millie Ward, Betty Bell, Kathy Goebel and Opal Paige.
Twelve years later I would work this act but by that time the leader "Mary" had been eliminated and "Kae" added to the 6th position.

I met Mack in 1955 when he played here with Polack working this act.
That must have been a good ten or twelve years ago.
