Audience shots were difficult to film because the paying customers objected to having to sit in a blaze of blinding light that prevented them from seeing the performance; so, the filming project was given advance publicity in the cities in which the circus was to appear, and all the local amateur camera and movie enthusiasts were invited to come and take pictures along with the Castle crew. The procedure provided an audience that enjoyed being part of the proceedings with no complaints registered.
