This photo was taken at "Eartha Kitt's" home beside the pool. She was still on Broadway, in "Timbuktu" and she had her caretakers open her home for us every day we had off. She was so fabulous. And we met so many of her friends there. "Eartha Kitt" was on tour in 1979, and we were still on tour with RBB&B. So we got together,in Chicago, with her whole show, we sent the school bus that RBB&B used to bus the performers to the building, and from the train. We had a cookout. "Mama Slavove" (can't spell)Her family did ridding act. She did the cooking. We had a ball. "Eartha Kitt used to come to the train all the time when we were in NY. City. And we were there I believe it was 12 weeks in those days. Eartha used to stay on the train with all the kids. "Bobby Johnson" would let us borrow his bed as it was the largest, so all the kids could fit. She would jump up and down with the kids in the bed. How could anyone say no when Eartha was doing it.She was such a sweet person. And once again I was so lucky......Barbara.......
As a boy, my record player handled only the old 45s. Eartha Kitt sang the first song I ever heard in French--"Sous Les Ponts du Paris", or,"Under the Bridges of Paris". I was fascinated by her voice and memorized the song. I had her recording of "Santa Baby", sung in a sultry, come-hither style that made me want to be the one to come down her chimney those wintry nights.
