Baraboo Pix #2

This would be 1986 the year Kenneth bought the Diano elephants.
Shortly after their arrival in Baraboo I was asked to baby sit four of them while Keener took "Tommy" up to Canada due to a pre-existing contract to make the Burt Lancaster movie "Barnum".
As soon as he left one of them got sassy with me and I had to fuss at her but I can't remember which one.
I added them to our daily Baraboo parade while he was away but neglected having a picture taken.

Dang and Diane and I didn't get to Baraboo for the first time until '94.

Great photos Jim, nice way to start the week.

I believe Lee left Minnie, Mysore, Calcutta, and Dolly for you to baby sit seems like it was
Dolly that got a bit sassy.

Three guys I knew and liked, with only Buckles still standing. I talked to Bobby on his cell phone only days before he died. He was livid over the misrepresentation of Mabel Stark in a then-recent book. Casey may enlighten us further, as I understood Bobby went into other work because of the increasingly intrusive government regulations over circus animals. His big heart was broken, but he felt he could not continue dealing with booking animals over the road.

Lee Keener and I hit it off when he first guested with the Diano five on Castle. He was a wrang at times, but I liked him and respected his attentiveness and professionalism to the elephants. I was hardly surprised at his departure from the Felds. I was on Lee's side for being uncompromising, and for having a short fuse for the uninitiated, and a final clash over there was inevitable. His last years were unfulfilling, and he left us far too young.
