Whilst all this was going on I was enjoying my "main line" in the Blue Show pie car, wearing a new jacket just presented by manager Mike Melson with the comment, "Kenneth doesn't want to see that Big Apple thing you're wearing on the lot anymore."

Just returned home on an Amtrak
sleeper & had the "Mainline" in
the "Heritage Diner" #8528 built
in 1950 for the Southern Pacific
They have great staff & a chef to
do a really nice job of good food
service that comes included in
the price of a roomette (or room)
I've been breaking up the flying
routine with the train on & off
Was enjoying my morning coffee
when we stopped in DeLand & was
happy to see the CB WQ through
the tree line
I learned that Amtrak has about
20 of these "Heritage Diners" all
built by Budd between 48 & 57
Clearly our old pie cars were of
that same vintage maybe they are
still yet today
