Here is a set of photos of the 2014 edition of the French Cirque Pinder. I took
these pictures in Lyon (the second largest city in France) a few days ago.
Here are the details of the Animal presentations : - For the first time in Europe Frederic Edelstein presents a group of 12 white Lions. |

Thanks for the post. I am amazed to see so many White lions. I thought they were extremely rare and very expensive. Are these owned by Pindor circus. and I note they must be financially well off to have bthis kind of investment, plus all the other animals as well. Is this a major European circus. Who are the owners of the circus and the lions. Thanks again for the post and we always look forward to hearing from you. johnny
I believe Wolfgang Holzmair was
his mentor & a good friend
Is there mesh between the upright sections of that cage?
Phillie Zoo had a couple of White Lions back about '94, but nothing approaching the size of this group.
It appears that the vertical
lines are of highly tensioned
stiff cables with no additional
elements & offers a clear view
Very good looking arena
The 3 sets of spreaders in each
of the frames add cable support
Likely all steel construction
I believe that the headband is
a signature Edelstein element
(or a cap) to keep long hair
under control
Johnny,
Thanks for your comment.
Yes these lions are very expensive! Most of them come from South Africa.
Pinder, Arlette Gruss, Medrano and Amar are the largest shows in France. For Christmas Pinder plays in Paris in a 5000 seats big top. Pinder calls itself "Le Géant Européen", the European Giant. 130 people work for the show which is a highly profitable operation.
Gilbert Edelstein is the CEO of the Cirque Pinder. Frederic is his son and owns the cats. Beside the white lions, Pinder also travel with other cats which bring the total to over 20 animals.
Chic,
Wolfgang helped Frederic with his former 16 cats mixt act now retired.
Dickie Chipperfield trained with Frederic this white lions act. He left the show and now helped Matin Lacey Jr. on Circus Krone to create a 25 cats act for next year :)
You are right the cage is made with cables. I think they bought it from Alexander Lacey. It's nice as you can put your camera between them...
