According to the New York Times for 16 Nov. 1916,Miss Congo was sold by the Central Park zoo to the John Robinson circus for $2,800.That was a dandy price because hippos were hard to get during WWI with the German animal trade cut off.Miss Congo died in 1922 according to the late Col Wm. Woodcock.
