When Dick Garden built the huge Toby Tyler circus he bought many animals including two young hippos. Larry Records was in charge of them, plus the cat act, and proceeded to train them. They did an act together that would be a hit on the circus. Dicky folded and the hippos went somewhere, but it was pretty impressive. They went across the lot into and out of the ring. There were two pedestals that were part of the act. A black guy called Hippo Harry handled them. for the record. thanks
