Great photo of his somersault with a full twist (a true "double" since the body makes two revolutions though in different ways). No one elso has ever done this trick and one of the reasons Lucio is one of the greats in the business. And yes, a very, very nice man. Embarrassed to say I don'y recall having seen this excellent-angle view before. Where was it published? Dick Flint Baltimore
As a young cageboy for Clyde Beatty, in 1964, I can testify that both he and Lucio Cristiani were two of the industry's major stars who would speak to the workingmen--unlike some of the anonymous grande arteestes who would not. Clyde Beatty to work for, and Lucio Cristiani gracious to everyone on the show--it doesn't get much better than that, either.

The "Nijinsky of the horse" and also a very nice man to work for.
I worked for both the Cristianis and the Hannefords and it doesn't get much better than that.

Wasn't Alberto Zoppe famous for a
"flat out"(?) back flip from horse to horae?
