Gee Gee always referred to this mount as the "Famous Calendar Pose". Yet when I wrote it that way it came out very conceited. It was not meant to be that way. I created many mounts. That was just one of the many. And I always had fun teaching any and all of my mounts to my friends. One mount that I would have liked to claim was the hind leg mount. But that was a Peggy & Mac McDonald trick they taught me. I did do variations of it. And later My son took it further by going on up and standing on "Anna May's" butt, not the leg. I was very proud of him. And I described a mount Jean Allen taught me to Ben. That is where his run up Anna May's back to her head came from as she was setting up. The only difference was I ran up her side as she was sitting up. Tough mount. It is a shame it is all a lost art now. What most people didn't know was the hard part was (getting) into the mount. After you were there it was duck soup. And most videos usually leave that part out.....Barbara.....
Speaking of videos. Kenny Dodd gave Buckles a video of our act from the N.Y. City's "Worlds Fair" of 1964, for his birthday. What a thoughtful present. Thank you Kenny. Love you. What memories that brought back. Ben was 11 years old. He was old enough to enjoy all the shows. We were the only performers to live inside the Fair. We stayed in the small compartment in the bull truck. I would sew all night and keep an ear out for the elephants. Then when Buckles got up I went to bed. There were 7 shows a day. Need to get Buckles to describe the details of how it worked. I am sure Chic could do that also. The shows were only one hour long. So it was not hard doing 4 shows a day part of the week, & 3 the other part. No spec, finale, webs, or anything like that. And we were finished by dark. No days off. I liked it......Barbara......
