From Billie Schuller #1

Ted Svertesky used to tell me stories about living at the "Ponderosa" in Deland.
Sometimes when Freddy stopped by after checking the elephants at night, he and Gary Thomas would offer him a social libation or two resulting in the Capt. heading home in a state of unsteadiness.
The following morning while they were cleaning out the barn, he would arrive, stand in the doorway a while and finally say, "Slight Indian uprising last night!"

For those unaware Miss Ora was a

full blooded "Native American"

I believe her tribal name was

"Yellow Eyes" or similar

I'm afraid my point got "lost in the shuffle". I wanted to refer to BANNERLINE #15 and an unfortunate time in our history when Native Americans could be "rented" for $12.50.

You're absolutely correct Billie

Somehow down through America's

history (North South & Central)

All of the indigenous people got

much less than the short straws

However your point of "rentals"

is not all that different from

Big Bertha's arrangements with

several of the "Iron Curtain"

countries for the performers
