1978 A Great Year! #12

Having been born and raised with a circus and always in the shadow of the Ringling Show, we will ever be grateful to Irvin Feld for the opportunity to finally appear in the center ring in Madison Sq. Garden with the Greatest show On Earth but.....
Our greeting by the Press (most of it due to being new that year) caused considerable rumbling amongst some of the old guarde to a point where Bobby Johnson confided that certain Washington office  officials and staff gleefully referred to the situation as "Star Wars!" or the "Black and Blue Unit", the details of which I shall seal and carry to the grave.

Oh the tales of mayhem & intrigue

Just in the Garden alone would be

worthy of a violent paperback

Still much too early to regale as

many of the participants remain

alive & among us to this day

The tale of the usher calming a

drunk who somehow managed to gain

entry to the Garden with a wrong

date prize fight ticket telling

him that if by the intermission

he had not seen a fight that he

would get a full refund

Ben on the left & Prince Paul on

the right

Chic, that is Shane, Bens stepson.

But yes, the clown is Prince Paul Alpert.

What the hell, you guys. Come on with the details. Hell's afire, we all know of hey-rubes in the backyard, so how about the skinny with names and dates?

yes! And what's the skinny about the second year of the 108th? Wasn't 1979 a great year too?

Rodeo Route of 79 included twelve

Jeff I have plenty of '79 photos but the seasons are hard to tell apart.
Several months ago I ran a set on the show taken in Toledo, not sure how you would track back.

Thanks Buckles!
Yes, I did see the Toledo pics…. and I found myself in one of the Manage photos. I did ride one of the seahorses that got to overlook the "long mount" from start to finish during every Spec. That never ceased to thrill me! I consider myself very very lucky to have had that bird's eye view during every show. I wish I had had a "Go Pro" camera!!!!
