Yes it was Buckles, what a shame it`s not still like this!! I`m been taking my grandkids and they always enjoy it, but I always tell them I wish they could have seen shows like these!!! It was truly The Greatest Show On Earth!!!!! Funny thing is my Dad would tell me the same thing about the shows he saw in the 20`s - 40`s.

Blue Show 78 was perhaps "TGGSOE"

The Greatest Greatest of the 2nd

half of the last century at least

for many of us involved

Opening night party in the Garden

that year was truly a star filled

event that was Nini Finkelstein's

finest hour in the turnout

I've always considered the 108th Edition to be the BEST (acts, music, wardrobe, etc.) of all the Ringling editions I saw over the years. Playing in the band, I didn't get to see much of the show in San Diego, so I made two trips up to LA and Long Beach and saw three performances, and also took movies and color slides of back yard activity during another performance. The 108th Edition was truly the highpoint of the Irvin Feld years.

Hal, you're both right about that.
This show couldn't compare with the 3 ring,4 stage productions of the past but they managed to cram about as much as they could into these indoor arenas would allow.
Plenty of empty floor space available in the last one I saw three or four years ago.

78 had the best of the creativity

under Irvin's guidance & the use

of the Mattel checkbook which had

such spectacular results
