All the MGM lions bore the all-too-anticipated name of Leo, but this guy was identified to me as Pasha, trained by Frank Phillips. The studios all have their own logo pages, and MGM's covers the history of the lions by name--which varies according to contributing writers. The first is conceded to have been Slats. These stories include which lions were used for black-and-white films, and which for color, even to how many roars each had looking left and how many looking right. You have to be a film buff to want that much information, but there it is.

Doesn't Leo translate to Lion in
some language or Zodiac sign
Yes, Leo is Latin for lion, and Simba is lion in Swahili. When people use Leo and Simba, the animal's name is Lion the Lion.
