I, with some other CFA friends, was down for the unloading here in NJ for years and Gunther always had time for us and always took his glove off to shake hands, treasured memories.
The animal walk used to be about 2.8 miles and there were photo opps all over the area. Now they unload the train on a track by MetLife Stadium, behind a locked gate and when ready, take the animals around up on an overpass and boom they're there. With that locked gate I used to bring a 6 foot ladder and telephoto lenses to try to get some photos. I have not and I don't think anyone else has gone down in a few years.
Thirty or so years ago they had open cat cages on flats and I remember it as being pretty damn cold.
