And not a mention of a candy butcher, prop hand or big top roust about. You'd think this show went up by magic . Question 14A... Who was the Butchers straw boss on the Beatty Show in 1963? Years later his son took out his own show and its still on the road. Who had the Floss joint that year. Who was the Concessions manager? It's not all about kinkers...there were many people involved and dedicated to seeing that the Show must go on!!

This damn quiz is rigged against
us as Johnny Herriott should be
forced to close 1 eye & it still
wouldn't be fair but thanks John
Ernie as Drum Major would prance
next to the "Time Marches On"
hourglass on the elephant
How many of us can remember when
we could lift a knee that high
(if ever we could)

Might this "mystic" be Bobby Cox
I remember the Concessions Mgr as
a tall nice fellow with glasses &
a very bad limp Bill Webster but
I can't recall who spun candy but
Red Hartman wrapped the floss
cones as cherry pie Frank Orman
was General Manager maybe George
"Pops" Warner was Canvas Boss
General Superintendant was Bob
Reynolds "Kilowatt" Fitzpatrick
was the Show Electrician Tommy
Clarke was Boss Props & Eddie
Dullum was Producing Clown
Many fond memories of that show
Candy Butchers included Deacon
who went with Heather Clements
Jack "The Ripper" Molinari Stan
"Hippo" Penney (??) Williams who
married Toni Williams (by chance)
That Straw Boss you asked about
must have been John Walker
By 1963 I had gained a great deal
of admiration for Digger Pugh
I must pay tribute to 1 of the
all time great riggers & splicers
John Schweitzer (& John John)
A mere half century ago (& seems
no more than 49 & a half years)
If you are Bobby Cox then you
should know that for the last few
years of his life Jack Molinari
lived a block from my office & he
would come by to chat a few times
each week to remind me that the
last lot Big Betha played under
canvas wasn't really Pittsburgh
but some nearby town for certain
He spoke of you often very nicely
Jack was of a unique style & a
pain in the ass but I miss him
