1994 Busy season!

Paul Gutheil snapped this shot in Phildelphia.
Kenneth Feld happened to show up that day explaining that it was essential that we start setting up the exercise fences, something new to me..
So that became a new policy with the show. At first I was leery since I wasn't sure which elephants were compatible but it eventually worked out OK and Graham had his three "Camelot", "Letchme" and "Mena"  out there straightaway.

Down the line you can spot one of the Chipperfield elephants in the lattice-style headpiece.

Great photos of the Budapest Zoo's elephant house.

Were these 8 on the left all the

show owned elephants with you

I guess if that were the case

then aside for your 5 act both

end rings had only 3 each

Quite the contrary, this photo only shows half the herd when in fact we had the largest number (23) ever presented by the Felds before or since.
I was in charge of the 15 elephants in manege, Patricia handled "Romeo", "Juliet" their mothers and "Luke" plus Graham Chipperfield's three.
However if there were any complaints, fist fights, runaways or injuries I was the one held responsible and worst of all, had to attend the meetings.
Oh! I forgot to mention "King Tusk" he was with us thru MSG making 24.

There was a lot on Buckles plate, with plenty of politics and vying for position. However, Buckles was the perfect chap for the job. He soon had us all on the straight and narrow. And from a personal point, I had a great experience working with, and learning from, Buckles. Nothing better than being under the wing of one of the best.
Graham (currently in Brazil)
Ps. The headpieces on my elephants changed over to the GSOE after year two.

Anyone have any photos of Tommy and Luke together or close to each other?

Patty would if anyone Gary but I

don't think they spent much time

together although Tommy spent his

last few years with Patty & died

in Williston in 2002 at age 58

Luke is a much younger elephant

I had always wondered about both

Tommy & Colonel Joe together even

though Joe was 20 years younger

& died in 2012 at age 48 & Luke

just turned 28 this year
