Osa Johnson #9

Osa and Martin with some of the cameras they used to film their documentaries. Although Martin liked filming wild animals up close using a normal lens, it appears that some early telephoto lenses were also part of the equipment they packed along.

The camera on the right is the Carl Akeley 35mm hand cranked movie camera with a 17 inch telephoto lens.
The tube on the left is the view finder and the one on the right is the actual taking lens.
This is the best camera for news reel work and wild life photography.
It had a 200 foot quick change film magazine that you could change film in seconds.
