Claudia Cardinale’s love interest was played by John Smith, a Wayne protégé of sorts who is best remembered for having starred in the LARAMIE TV series. Wayne had given him an early break in THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY (which he had produced) and insisted that Smith be cast in CIRCUS WORLD. Following this film, Smith’s movie & television appearances became more and more infrequent and he finally left show business in the late 1970s. He died of cirrhosis of the liver in 1995 and you can probably complete the picture.
