The barn wasn't ready yet and we spent most of the day in the hot sun herding elephants out among the peach trees and patience was running short.
About noon Chappie came up and said the Park Manager wanted to talk with me.
He took me to an office filled with Disney types and the gentleman seated at the end of the table announced to me that he had witnessed the elephants arrival and that none of my attendants measured up to Park's standard haircut and grooming wise.
I see Chappie at the other end of the table squirming and and acting like he was writing something.
I started in, "Why you counterfeit ass hole! Most of these guys only made the trip to give me a hand, they've all been going for over 24 hours and you don't even have a place for the elephants to get out of the heat.
My elephants are ready to perform right now but your park well behind time opening and doesn't measure up to my fuckin' standards!
Other than that things went pretty well.

They may have been "Disney Types"

but they were actually contracted

through "Grand Ol Oprey" folks by

Mattel after they took the park

away from the Feld Club when they

realized what was not included in

the assets they purchased

I don't remember the first manager's name but I'm sure they came from Disney.
I recall one of them telling me that he made a deal to have his furniture brought from Anaheim to Florida unaware they would send an animal hauler.
He said on arrival he had to throw all of it away and have it replaced.
I don't remember any Oprey people until they built the theater several years later.

I have a pretty good idea of which animal hauler you speak of...it was a trailer loaded with furniture and Mattel toys that they sold on the shows...I loaded Bonnie aka Konti in the backend. She punched about 50 holes through the sides before I had to go in and shorten her up...I bet that furniture smelled good, it was right in front of her in the rig..
