In his book BRING ‘EM BACK ALIVE, Frank Buck tells how some natives once captured a huge orangutan by setting out a tub of water close to the tree where it had its nest. After the orangutan had become conditioned to drinking from the tub, the natives began adding small amounts of a powerful native liquor to the water. Then one day, they filled the tub entirely with the liquor. After the orangutan had drunk its fill, it was not able to climb back up into its tree to safety. The natives simply had to wait until the orangutan passed out, at which time they were safely able to cage it.
