To Gary Hill #7

The highlight of the number was a nice big, willing-worker named "Modoc" would do a skippity-hop, waltz and shimmy alone in the ring and then close with this head stand.
With lighting and proper music it went over big.

Capt, this elephant wouldn't be the one that did the dance in Jumbo would it?

No that was a Beatty Show elephant named "Anna May" of whom our elephant was named after.

Roland Raffler, who had a pig act on Beatty-Cole in circa 1960, asked me who the Beatty show guy was whom Doris Day talked to in JUMBO. It was Benny White. He went to MGM with the elephants, and was very glad to return to circus life.
