Connie Clausen wrote that Igor's jolting, disjointed strains did little more than drive everyone nuts.

After the Philadelphia stand, the band was pulled off the show by the Musicians' Union over a pay dispute. Ringling finished the season using records. Since Igor's composition was still new and original, it might not yet have been recorded and therefore could not have been used. (Outside of New York City, no one would have cared anyhow.) One of the numbers that WAS played for the elephant ballet was the "Dance of the Hours." (They did find a recording of that number to play.)

This is the season we wrote of a few days back, when Merle Evans led the Cowboys Band for Hardin-Simmons University, in Abilene, Texas. With the union dust settled, of course, he returned to RBB the next spring.
