The male died after the first season and "Pouqua" was lost in the 1941 Atlanta elephant poisoning.

I think his name was Jack Earle.

Indeed, he was. My cousins in El Paso knew him. The most accurate height given him was 8' 6 1/2". He was on RBB some 14 seasons. He was born in Denver, 3 July 1906. Giants have relatively short life spans, and Earle died in El Paso, on 18 July, 1952, at only 46.
