1965 RBBB TV Special #58

Ringling’s 1965 TV Special manages to pack into 60 minutes a stronger performance than many shows are offering today.

A season or so before this, we were playing some dates in the Dallas area when my wife and I along with Punch and Juanita Jacobs caught the Ringling Show at the evening performance closing night.
It was a good show, Trevor Bale worked the house tiger act.
The highlight however, developed during the festivities at the pie car afterwards.
Adult beverages were served and the Queen of Facebook got smashed.
Suddenly we felt the car jolt and a mad scramble ensued with Harold Ward and Jimmy Ringling hustling us down the aisle and off the vestibule.
As the train started pulling away it dawned on us that my wife was still aboard.
In panic I was trying to find out where the first stop would be but as the last car passed there she stood still holding her drink.
The had unloaded from the other side.

Sounds like our fearless leader may

have been slightly in the weeds as

well as the forgotten spouse when

you ran for the folding escape step

Did you use that lame excuse line

I thought you were right behind me

You've made your case very well &

so no need to remind us Barbara

but your line about "better ways"

is truly priceless

Friend Buckles. Maybe you had a few too many in that you referred to none of the brothers Ward as Harold. Harold was out with his own flying act in those days probably with Reggie Armour, whereas his older brother was on the RBBB probably as the train electrician at that time. Also Inrecall from visiting the show that he was also the Ambasador of good will to visiting showfolks. johnny
