Alex is on his long-time American saddle-bred horse Kalarama. The third dressage rider that year was Nadia Houcke, late aunt of recent Ringling trainer Sacha Houcke.

Incidentally in the early 1900s the Riding Konyot bareback riding family came to Barnum and Bailey as a featured act that included Arthur, Oscar, Lily among others.
