Train Wreck #6


A close examination of this scene shows that the real people superimposed into the miniature set are out of scale to the train.

This combining together of two or more image elements into a final single image is known in the film industry as a MATTE SHOT so, technically speaking, the live action people shown here have been “matted in” to the scene filmed on the miniature set. (The manner in which some of them first appear – leaping down from the engine cab, for example -- is rather cartoonish and would probably have been physically impossible in real life.
