I'm sending BUCKLES a photo of Gloria Grahame with this elephant, cast as "Minyak" by DeMille, but whose name was Big Emma in Thousand Oaks. I agree with JIM--Holly looked like she took over management from Brad after the wreck, but for a true show gal, you can give me Angel every time. DeMill said of Gloria, "She has the personality of a schoolgirl, but the eyes of a sorceress." I know Gloria was controversial in real life, but she gave us Angel, and for this I love her.
At the 2006 Circus Historical Society in Sarasota, a number of the 1951 RBBB folks regailed stories of the movie and Gloria Grahame was very well liked. Not so with Miss Hutton. Bob
Another favorite of the showfolks was Dorothy Lamour. She was Dottie to everyone, and proved a real trouper and a backyard charmer. She wrote in her book that for years after the picture, her circus friends kept in regular touch. As BOB says, it was different with Hutton. Flo White said she "...was a thnippy, prithy little mithy."
