This was Arky's first year on the show but shortly after he arrived in Quarters a small child wandered into the elephant picket line while visiting the show's quarters and was fatally kicked by "Dolly". One account claimed that she was dozing and being startled kicked out reactivly. Hugo Schmitt meanwhile, had joined Mills Bros. Circus who started buying more elephants. Two came from the Ringling Show "Wallace Jenny" and "Ringling Trilby" who dated back to the 1890's.
