This sedan chair or palanquin , carried between two camels, was a staple of the so-called “Tournaments” with which RBBB opened its performances in the 1920s and into the 1930s.

The Great Circus Parade tried to present one in Milwaukee, using two of Dale Hale’s camels. However, in practicing in Baraboo beforehand, the camels twisted around so much that the carrying poles got bent.

So, for the parade, they pressed some big local high school football players into service to tote the chair.
