From Kenton Cornish #1

Dear Sir,
I thought you may be interested in viewing two old photographic images
that were taken of the mounted hide and skeleton of
the elephant "Emperor'when the specimens were still on display
at the Academic Hall of University of Missouri at Columbia MO.
the elephant Emperor died May.17.1885 at Liberty Missouri
while with the S.H Barrett Circus
it fell off a gang plank as it was being loaded into a boxcar.
it died a few hours later. Its carcass was purchased
by the president of MU who had it sent to Ward's Natural Scientific
Establishment to be mounted.
The hide was discarded around 1914 and the skeleton
was put into storage after 1949.
It is unclear as to what became of the entire skeleton
but there is on display at Stewart Hall an articulated fore-limb
and some other bones which are believed to be Emperor's.
