The white towers (upper left) were
part of the waterfront amphitheater
that was originally built for the
1939 World's Fair on the same site
Different aquacades were presented
including Bob Maxwell's Spectacular
that I also got to see at Brisbain's
1988 World's Fair in Australia
As I recall that was the replica of
the "Bounty" built for the Marlon
Brando film that was docked next to
the amphitheater (up center)

This was before your day, but a replica of Columbus' flagship was built for the Chicago Century of Progress Expo in 1933-34 and for many years thereafter could be seen in the lagoon at Jackson Park, slowly rotting away.
No, I did not see it at the fair but I did see it in Jackson Park sometime after WW II.
I know you've heard of WW II.
