Notes: The date of birth was creative. He may have been 62, but Arky told me he had no idea how old he was. His first memories were of a harsh orphanage, or boys home, in Louisiana, from which he escaped before his teens--as he reckoned his age. The residence address given was that of Jungleland. He rests among many great showmen, such as Cheerful Gardner and Louis Roth. Five days after his funeral, on April 20, Mabel Stark was found dead in her home.
