I remember my father telling me about these grand production. He said they had a hugh stage on the one side in the middle of the big top. They actually had all the characters in the costumes of what they were doing and all places in certain spots like actors on a stage. They did an actualy short play depicting the theme and then the pagent, spec, would enter the big top and around the track. The museum gave me one of these lay outs with my fathers name showing where he stood. Lord knows where I put it, but it must have been spectacular.
