Several Alices have been suggested for this one. Chang said that your dad told him it was the Hall elephant that went to Cole Bros but wasn't used much there if at all.
Also Chuck Sprague found an article in the Ft Lauderdale paper saying a new elephant would be arriving at the Jungle Zoo from Rochester, IN, which would seem to verify this.
This Alice was acquired from Beatty by Matthew Ferguson of Camden , SC. This seems to have been in early 1940. Ferguson wanted to use her to plow his farmland.
When the first peacetime military draft went into effect in the fall of 1940, Ferguson was called to duty. So, he gave Alice to the Atlanta zoo. There she joined Coca, giving Atlanta two elephants for the first time in its history. She had a long life in Atlanta, passing away in 1971
