Jungle Jim #12

Word that two expeditions are making their way through the jungle is received by a mysterious character known as the Cobra (Henry Brandon) and his sister Shanghai Lil (Evelyn Brent.) Fugitives from justice, they are hiding inside an old castle built in the jungle long ago by a forgotten civilization that even the natives no longer remember. (Fans of old movies will recognize the Cobra’s castle as large standing sets left over from Frankenstein and other Universal horror films.)

When this film was made, Henry Brandon was in his mid-20s and still had a long career of screen villainy ahead of him. One of his most powerful roles was that of the Comanche Indian chief “Scar” in John Ford’s masterpiece THE SEARCHERS. Brandon’s “Scar” embodies the very essence of evil and is the most menacing adversary that John Wayne ever had to face!

I believe Henry Brandon, at a very young age, played the mean old Silas Barnaby in Laurel & Hardy's "March of The Wooden Soldiers" I also seem to recall that Henry Brandon was not his real name or perhaps I have that reversed.

With apologies, I'm to lazy at the moment to Google and find out.
