MICHU's appearing at a Celebrity Autograph Show here in Hollywood this weekend; no mention of Ringling in his bio, although i was there when he arrived at Kennedy Airport from Hungary in 1973 to much fanfare and the beginnings of his performing career in America; He was always unpredictable, once kicked me on live TV and walked off the set leaving me and the interviewer staring at each other; of course, there are many such encounters! The Michu Wedding was the craziest--the bride Juliana couldn't stand him--i think we did a press stunt, again at Kennedy, with her arrival from Hungary, and he was there; they barely spoke. This article, Jan. 5, 1976, by Pete Gallagher in the St. Pete Times, nearly sank my career. Gallagher was a good writer, reported on the circus in St. Pete every year, and saw right thru the hyperbole after he spent a day in Venice. |
