It is probably safe to assume that this is Louis Roth’s wrestling tiger Bobby, with Roth’s son (who was Bobby’s usual wrestling partner) doubling for Grant Withers.
Agreed, this is Robert Roth, with the arm up to hide his face. But Louis himself had no children. He married Betty Kenyon, who brought her children Robert and Laura onto the scene. Now--think back to when Tony Curtis, as Tino Orsini, failed his first triple to Burt Lancaster, in TRAPEZE. Burt was ragging him about it, and the guy rolling around in the net raised his left arm to obscure his face, much as Robert does here--that was our Fay Alexander.
