From Buckles

This overhead newspaper photo was taken somewhere in California with "Anna May" and "Bonnie" up front.
As you can see it's a long way from front to back and I always trudged along somewhere in the middle to keep an overall view.
It was the first year on the road for half the herd so I didn't encourage riding.
If we had to stop for any reason (railroad crossing etc.) remaining frozen in this position would invite possible distractions whereas lined up like good soldiers keeps a better handle on the situation.
The command was and possibly still is, "COME IN LINE!".... or..... "BRING 'EM IN LINE!"

How many handlers/escorts to keep and eye on these folks?
