Flash Gordon #7

By the long arm of coincidence (and the shorter arm of the script writer) Flash (Buster Crabbe) arrives at Dale’s hiding place just as the tigeron is about to pounce on her. At this point, Buster’s stunt double takes over and engages the tigeron in hand-to-paw combat. (According to Clyde Beatty, Bobby’s usual wrestling partner was Louis Roth’s son, who might very well be the one who is shown here.)

It certainly could be Roth's step- son, Robert. By the time he and Louis were on FLASH GORDON, they had worked on THE JUNGLE PRINCESS earlier in 1936, where Bobby had co-starred with the vivacious and personable Dorothy Lamour. Bobby was so well-trained and tractable, Dorothy wanted to work directly with him in their scenes, but was overruled by the more level-headed Louis. His step-daughter, Laura Roth, doubled for the star, as Robert stood guard.
