Welcome to Buckles Blog. This site is for the discussion of Circus History all over the world.
I've never known which of their many trainers this was supposed to be. Or maybe just your generic trainer? Didn't the Barnes show used to advertise "Every animal an act, every act an animal" or something along that line?
Whitey - I believe that line went: “Every act an animal act, and every animal a star.”
The trainer drawn here represents Captain Jack Bonavita. For a time, he had 27 male lions in an act, a world's record. Louis Roth assembled 28, and Barnes billed it as the World Challenge Group of Lions.
PS: Chris quotes the line as it was most often billed.
